My Approach

I treat children from a holistic perspective. I believe all parts of a child are important-social, emotional, behavioral, developmental, cognitive, psychological, and spiritual.  Over the years in practice and training, I am particularly interested in attachment and helping families to gain understanding and grow in this way.

Hi, I'm Melody Caton.

Welcome to my practice! My life goal has been to help children and families. I am passionate about growth and development of each child I work with. I love to train parents to better equip them for the challenges we face daily.

I am particularly interested in working with foster and adoptive families and assisting them as they face the many challenges of coming together not by birth.

I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the State of Florida and Virginia. I attended Regent University in Virginia Beach, VA and received my Masters of Art in Community Mental Health Counseling with an additional specialty in school counseling. My Supervision throughout my residency was from an Attachment Theory perspective including Circle of Security and Trust Based Relational Interventions. I trained with Texas Christian University in their Child Development program to assist families with a modality/intervention for children who are from hard places. I am trained in a specialized equine therapy that’s main focus is attachment related, Natural LifemanShip.

I have worked with the Department of Children and Family services in case management, therapeutic counseling services, and as a parent trainer for those embarking on becoming licensed foster parents. I provide a unique in- home therapy program for families in crisis or just beginning their journey as foster/adoptive parents.

Personally, I am a wife, mother, teacher and foster/adoptive parent.  I love to learn, read, and stay up to date on new research and techniques.  When I am not working I am happiest in the sunshine, biking, beaching, boating with my family. I feel honored and blessed to walk along side families and use the gifts I have been entrusted with.
